RE: Buffalo National River

I know my brother hunted some elk near there but it was on a private game place. Elk are not native to northern Arkansas.

RE: Chicago - Matamoros, Mexico ?US69 /US75

Ok the driver has said his software routes him on to OKC on I44 and then down I35. So us69- us75 isn't in that route.
So the modified question is- is this route via OKC better than via Memphis, Little Rock etc.?

Chicago - Matamoros, Mexico ?US69 /US75

We are RV'ers but this isn't an RV trip, so am just looking for road information.
My family is going in a 15 passenger van to Matamoros the end of this week.
What is US69 / US75 in OK /TX like?
MS Streets & Trips shows I-55/I-44/US69/U75 etc. rather
I57/I40/I30. The driver also prefers seeing OK as he has never been there.
If you had to make this 1500 (oneway) trip as quickly as possible with 4 adults, 3 teens and a child which way would you go? Will US69/US75 slow you down?
Thanks,

RE: leveling question

We tried the yellow stacking "lego" looking blocks and pitched them. They only work on level ground. The break on uneven gravel or dirt. They were not worth the money.

RE: Sheets

We buy regular - with elastic all the way around the fitted sheet. They fit better - worked before we got our mattress topper but works even better now.

RE: Glen Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Moab Route

I would make Rt 12 a day trip in the toad. You could do it in the motorhome but the driver won't see the best parts.

RE: camping with toddlers

Ours twins are now 16 years old. We started tent camping when they were 6 months. We did not take electronics. Let them use camping to de"fry" their brains. There are plenty of things to see and do. We've been in an RV since they were 7 or so. Do keep some toys and games just for the camper.

RE: Don't want to upset anyone but.....

Refloyd - I was getting rather tired of this long long Chicago winter, but I'll choose it over your kind of heat. :) God Bless!!!

I sweat VERY easily and I have no problems with it on the memory foam we got from overstock.com.

RE: Mattress Toppers

Ordered a memory foam topper from overstock.com. King size - cut it down to rv queen. It is GREAT!!! We now love our rv bed. Bought our sone a twin at walmart for the jack-knife couch. What a difference. Makes me want one at home on our top of the line mattress.
Just put a zippered mattress cover over the topper and mattress to hold it in place. We didn't cut off the extra length. Just wrapped it over the end. This solved our too short mattress problem, now that my hubby's feet can hang over in comfort.

RE: 4 Down or Dolly price differences

Our insurance covers anything permanently attached, such as the base plate. I had a fender bender and am trying out the insurance on the base plate right now :( - We used a tow dolly for two trips but much prefer the flat towing we did this year.

RE: Short queen sheets

Ditto on the sheets with elastic all around the bottom. They work great and don't need to pay extra on special size.
Also, we added a memory foam topper to the mattress. To account for the wider than normal queen, we bought a king and cut it down. We did not cut the extra length off, just wrapped in over the end. With the roomy sheets, this was not problem.
This also solved our long time problem of a too short bed. Now it doesn't bother us that out feet are over the end. (We are tall.)

RE: Questions about Georgie Boy

We have a 1998 Georgie Boy Class C. We bought it used, but still got great service from the Georgie Boy factory near the MI/IN state line. I think they might cut off on-site service over 10 years though so that won't be a factor much longer.

RE: Advice on a campground Southern Utah National Parks

Kanab Rv Corral in Kanab Utah is very good. We did North Rim and Zion from there although it isn't super close. Zion is great. Hike to Narrows is tough but great.

RE: Utah in July

We did Utah in July last year. It was hot but beautiful. If you are hikers, plan to hike up the river to the slot canyons in Zion. Pack lots of water. They say at least a quart and you do need it. Have old tennis shoes or water hiking shoes, and walking sticks. At least half the distance is in the water. 3 miles one way. I'm way overweight and I did it. Loved it but it was hard.
Also - plan out your hikes at Moab. We didn't know in advance which we wanted to see and missed a lot because you have to go early to avoid the heat.

RE: RV Storage: Whadjya pay?

Hi -we're in Chicago area too. Currently stored in a private pole barn out by Harvard. Only $50/month - but we have the last spot. Was at a gas company in Marseilles - no fence - open field, $30.00/mo. Before that we were by Rock Cut state park in Rockford. Fenced/locked - coded access 24/7 - $50.00 back in 2004.
